The questions people ask before the first call.
Short, practical answers. If something here is still unclear, ask us directly — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
- What is a benefit counselor, and how is this different from a broker?
- A broker designs and places the plans: they negotiate with carriers, build the offering, and manage the contract. A benefit counselor explains those plans to employees, one conversation at a time, and helps them choose. Different job, different moment, different skill. We do the second one only.
- Do you replace our broker or our HR team?
- No. We are not your broker, your HR team, or your carrier. We are the bridge between the benefits you already offer and the employees who need to understand them. We coordinate with all three and never solicit the account for anything else.
- Which states do you cover?
- We deliver virtually anywhere in the United States, and we travel for in-person worksite enrollments. Tell us where your locations are and we will confirm on-site coverage and travel expectations in the scope call before you commit to anything.
- Do you handle open enrollment and new-hire enrollment?
- Both. Open enrollment is the seasonal peak, but new hires join all year and usually get the worst version of the experience — a PDF on day one. We can cover new-hire meetings on a retainer so the quality stays the same in March as it was in November.
- How is pricing structured?
- Four structures, depending on the engagement: a fixed project fee, a day rate for on-site work, a per-meeting fee tied to completed one-on-one appointments, or a monthly retainer for ongoing coverage. We quote after a short scope call, because headcount, locations, shifts, and language mix change the number substantially.
- How do you keep the same quality across different counselors?
- Every counselor is trained to one standard by our counselor lead, works from the same approved plan materials, and follows the same meeting structure. Plan details are confirmed with the broker and carrier before anyone presents, so counselors are never improvising about coverage.
- Is everything really available in both English and Spanish, not just translated materials?
- Yes. Our counselors are bilingual, so the presentation, the private meeting, the follow-up questions, and the take-home materials all happen in the employee's language. Nothing is machine-translated, and no employee has to bring a coworker to interpret for them. This site is the same: every page you can read here exists in both languages.
